HUD-VASH (Veterans)

HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) combines a Housing Choice Voucher with case management and clinical services from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The program targets veterans who are experiencing homelessness or are at high risk of homelessness, particularly those with mental health or substance use challenges.

Who qualifies

Veterans who meet the VA’s eligibility criteria, are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and would benefit from supportive case management. Discharge other than dishonorable is generally required.

How to apply

Start at your local VA medical center or call the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at 1-877-424-3838. The VA assesses eligibility and makes a referral to the local PHA, which then issues the voucher.
